YOUR LEARNING PATH

Business Intelligence

Turn business questions into trustworthy metrics and accessible Power BI dashboards. Build a reporting model, validate totals and document a handover.

6 steps / 3-4 months estimated
Before you start
Spreadsheet basics and confidence working with rows, columns and percentages. SQL is helpful but can be learned along the way.
What you will build
An accessible event-operations dashboard with a metric dictionary, reconciled totals, refresh instructions and a decision-focused case study.
STEP 01 OF 6

Translate a question into metrics

Start with a decision, not a dashboard layout. Use a fictional student society that wants to understand event registrations and attendance.

Break it down

01Build it yourself

Write the decisions the dashboard should support. Define registrations, attendees and attendance rate, including the reporting period, treatment of cancellations and denominator. List where each field comes from and who owns its definition.

02Ready to move on?

Two people following your metric dictionary would calculate the same result. Explain the difference between a count, a rate and a target, and what happens when a denominator is zero.
